Yeah, that's my pitiful reason for starting a blog. I didn't actually know that you had to write a post immediately upon creating one though, otherwise I would have just made the blog and promised myself I'd write something until they shut down the internet... or I died, whichever would come first.
So what does one write in a blog post? The ones I've read are usually filled with thoughtful insight and commentary. So, lacking any sort of thoughtful insight and commentary, what do I write? Of course! A bio!
I'm a violist at BSU (they won some big football thing last year, you may have heard about it). My favorite composers change all the time, but I really like Bach, Tchaikovsky, Rivers Cuomo, and Haydn. Also, I don't like Mozart. I suppose that's a mental disorder, but it doesn't seem to have reached the rest of my brain, so I'm not too worried.
I saw La Boheme recently and thought it was pretty ok, it was kind of disappointing not speaking Italian though, especially when the subtitles are not in sync with the music. I guess that's what you get for going to the cheap dress rehearsal.
Anyway, the fantastic blog title above comes from a certain rehearsal in which we were unfortunate enough to be practicing the American classic, Sleigh Ride. For those of you not in the know, this piece contains one of the most boring viola parts ever. But, with a little creativity and an "all on one finger" game we were able to bring out the true masterwork inside of Sleigh Ride. Accuracy of intonation while goofing off was brought up, and it was decided that intonation came after enjoyment, always remember that! There's kind of a deeper meaning, but for now a funny story will suffice.
